To Sidebar or to Not? Important Questions about Website Navigation Answered

Hello Folks, long time since i last posted an article on my website.Today our Guest Author Anny Solway has taken some of her precious time to write for us. It is a very helpful topic that can help you improve your Website's navigation to gain more impressions on every view and also See how to become an Guest Author in My Blogging Techniques.

One of the biggest problems you could find when you are trying to put together a web presence can be determining layout. When you begin delving into Professional WordPress themes , you will find that you have a wide variety of options. You need to make choices, not based on your own preference, but instead based on what will work best for your customers and potential customers.
One of the most important choices to make will have to do with navigation. An easily navigated site will be one that keeps potential customers logged on for much longer and will have the best chance for turning potentials into real customers. You need to answers to important questions so that you can build your website the right way.

Do I Need a Sidebar?

When you begin building your website, you will find that you have a couple of key navigation options: the sidebar and the drop-down menu. In most cases, you will find it advantageous to always include drop-down menus as this will be the first place customers will look in order to navigate your site. The sidebar, on the other hand, is a different matter.
You will have to think carefully about your site. What would you include in that sidebar? This can be a great way to guide readers to specific pages if you need to highlight them. It can also be a great way to link your site to social media. If these things matter, then you do need sidebars.

Should I Include Flash on My Site?

Flash has become a very popular novelty for including slideshows and other dynamic content. This can be an option that you are considering for your site. It will certainly make an impression from the very beginning! You can choose to use Flash on your site, but there is one rule you need to keep in mind. Keep it to a minimum. If you include one Flash element on your home page, stick with just the one. One eye-catching element is enough. Including any more could lead to a busy and unprofessional site.

How Many Subpages Do I Need?

When customers navigate your site, they do not need to get lost. If you make things too confusing with dozens of different pages, then they will give up. Yes, you do need subpages to provide helpful information, but do not include any more than are absolutely required, and ensure navigation from one to the next is easy.
Making the right decisions for your website navigation is a must. This can make the difference in turning a potential customer into a real customer.

New Features in Microsoft Windows 8.1

If you are a hard follower of technology, then you’ll already know that the Windows 8.1 will be made available to public on 18th of October 2013. If you have got the RTM version already, then you are awesome! I’m not going to tell you how to get it now, we will just talk about the new features that Microsoft added in this major update to its Windows 8 operating system.
windows-8-1-new-features
Microsoft Windows 8 OS was received with huge negative reviews all thanks to its Modern UI that alienated users from its older versions. I never had a complaint about Windows 8 and I’m still in love with it thanks to all the new updates it has brought from Windows 7 and older. Of course, getting used to a start-button-less desktop took time, but then again, it wasn’t such a big deal for me.
Coming to the Windows 8.1 release now, it is a major update because Microsoft has taken all these negative reviews and has addressed majority of the issues mentioned by sad people all around the world. Let’s dig deep.

What’s New in Microsoft Windows 8.1

Start Button makes a come back!
That’s right. This was one of the major issues people had with Windows 8. They just couldn’t get things right without a start button so Microsoft decided to get it back to where it was. But the functioning of start button isn’t as it was before. Clicking on the start button in Windows 8.1 will take you to Modern UI, something which you did in Windows 8 by hovering your mouse at the bottom left. So, I don’t really know how it makes sense. But what does make sense is that on right clicking the start button you get lots of options along with shut down.

Boot to Desktop

This is another big problem that people complained about. They wanted to boot directly to desktop, saving time clicking on that desktop icon on the Modern UI. Windows 8.1 has made the option to boot directly to desktop available.

More Help Everywhere

Microsoft has even brought a lot more help at hand for people to get themselves comfortable with the new interface and actions. These straight-forward tutorials provide help and tips on how to control your machine properly.

More Apps at Once

In Windows 8 you were able to snap open only two apps together with a 75/25 split screen. With Windows 8.1, you can now snap 3 apps together with dynamic sizing option.

Windows 8.1 supports 3D printing capabilities too.

Apart from these, there are more options in the settings menu, new hidden features, enhanced lock screen, new wallpapers, updated default apps and lots more in the back-end. And yeah, the good old “Computer” or “My Computer” has been renamed to “This PC“.

What is PageRank/Google Page Rank ?

What is PageRank or Google PageRank?

PageRank is a link analysis algorithm. It is used by the Google search engine to rank the pages on World Wide Web. Google search engine assigns a numerical weighting to each element of a hyperlinked set of pages, such as the WWW, with the purpose of measuring its relative importance within the set. The term or word "PageRank" is a trademark of Google.

Who developed PageRank?

PageRank was developed as part of a research project by Larry Page at Standford University and Sergey Brin about a new kind of search engine. Sergey had the thought that information on the World Wide Web could be ordered in a hierarchy by "link popularity".

PageRank

What is link popularity?

A page is said to have link popularity if it has more number of links to it.
Google describes PageRank:

Pages that we believe are important pages receive a higher PageRank and are more likely to appear at the top of the search results.

It plays an important role in search engine optimization. The Google search engine and PageRank algorithm are the trademarks of Google Inc. Google page ranking algorithm provides page ranks for the  pages which contains more number of links to it . Its values range from 0 to 10 points. The  least have a  pagerank value of 0 from 10 possible points but the most page rank value is 10 from 10 possible points then the page is said to be more popular.

For Example: Most popular websites have a PageRank of 10 from 10 possible point like www.google.com, etc.
That's all to say about page rank.

5 Tips To Find Best Affiliate Marketing Niche To Start A New Blog

Affiliate Marketing business is the most needed after work on the online world now-a-days. There are many successful affiliates who are earning a decent figure monthly income from online by selling products/ services and earning commissions in dollars. For sticking with blogging, I have seen some successful person in affiliate marketing.
From my little brain I am listing out here top five touchy steps to choose affiliate marketing niche which will help to save a lot of time to start out.

tips-to-find-affiliate-business-niche-or-topic-shinemat

1. Ask yourself, Choose Niche That Attracts You More

What will make money for you ? Are you fond (crazy) with video games, sports, science and technology or anything else ? Believe me, there are lots of subjects or niches available online to make money. You just need to decide and select the one best niche which you have enough knowledge and interest and you can simply manage everything to make an awesome story of pre-selling.

2. Choose Some More Specific elements Then Your General Niches

Did you get my point ? If not, let’s see a quick example. Suppose you choose the weight loss products niche. Weight loss products are very popular and million dollar niche on the online marketplace and also it has a lot of strong competition. So, a smart idea would be to go with more specific. For an example, choosing instead of how to lose a body fat easily, you can choose how to lose fat on thighs and belly. Without doubt, this will have a small competition and will give you the freedom to promote/ sell almost all kinds of weight loss products very smartly on your affiliate marketing blog.

3. Ensure That The Niche Has Huge Traffic

It is very simple but yet it is very crucial. You will never be a successful affiliate promoter in your niche if your affiliate niche has little audiences, I mean web traffic. If you choose such a nice niche that someone else would be have a monopoly over on it or you will not able to make money out.

4. Don't Forget To Engage With Social Media Networks

Social media is the best and quick effective tool to discover your online based affiliate marketing business. So, always make sure that your affiliate niche(s) can be promoted easily on popular social media platforms like Facebook, Twitter, Youtube, LinkedIn  and other major social networks.

5. Act As A Fast And Wise Person

This is an very important fact for affiliate business. The main reason behind on your creation of an affiliate marketing site is that you want to earn big revenue. An affiliate website is not almost like a blog. All you need to market it very fast as your level best. Beside this you have to configure and apply proper SEO and other important techniques by an expert. I think, pay per click and online banner advertising system can be a best alternative option to make profits quickly if you will spend some cash initially from your pocket.
Well! These are the top important factors that you must consider when you plan to enter and start your affiliate marketing business.

What is Ubuntu ? – A Brief History

♠ Rakshith Mlore in ,,,

Ubuntu is a Linux-based operating system with its origins in South Africa. Its name means “humanity towards others”. Back in 2004, Linux was already established as a server operating system, but free software ubuntu brief historywas not yet a part of everyday life. Further, Linux was thought of as a complicated operating system which non-technical people couldn’t use. It was at this time in 2004 that Ubuntu began as a Linux distribution aimed at ease of use. Mark Shuttle worth, the creator of the project, gathered a few developers and went on to create the most popular Linux distribution till date.

An introduction to the Ubuntu project

The Ubuntu project is aimed at creating one of the easiest operating systems on the planet using Linux as its base. Ubuntu releases a new version every six months; the latest at the time of writing being 11.04. The next anticipated edition, 11.10, will be out in October 2011. We hope you’ve already understood the subsequent pattern of version numbers: 9.10, 10.04, 10.10, 11.04 and so on. Ubuntu places alongside these numbers names of animals to infuse life into each release. The 11.04 version is named as ‘Natty Narwhal’ (a medium-sized toothed whale).
Yet another unique fact about Ubuntu is that its owners (or you could just call them the creators) at the parent company Canonical have pledged to always keep the OS free. On the other hand are companies who built over and around their open source products, especially Linux distributions such as Novell and Red Hat. They usually treat the free versions of their Linux distributions as a testing ground for commercial products. Canonical promises that Ubuntu is, and always will be, free of cost and open in nature. As far as its bank accounts are concerned, the OS is a volunteer- driven project and the company capitalizes on its Ubuntu-related support and development services to enterprises. The commitment of Canonical and Mark Shuttle worth are to be credited for the ever-growing fame of Ubuntu.

Why is Ubuntu popular ?

For those who’re interested in computing, Linux is something which they
take pride in being a user of, and love its freedom and flexibility.
Among all the Linux distributions, which already are extremely popular (use Google’s free keyword tool to avail salvation for yourself), Ubuntu is the most popular. The reason for its triumph over all other Linux distributions is its ease of use. Before Ubuntu came into picture, Linux was thought of as a real tough nut to crack. Many had the (wrong) notion about Linux being a completely command line based operating system. While it is still true that an extremely rich set of useful applications, programs and features of Linux are dependent on command line (or call it the console), Linux certainly was much more than just a console-driven, type and press Enter styled operating system, even before Ubuntu was born. The one thing it lacked was the real ease of use offered by other operating systems such as Windows and Mac.
Ubuntu changed the scene with its innovative solutions to issues. It ensured that users could download new software easily. The OS was further popularized by the fact that it allowed you to use the system right from the CD and install it only once you felt pleased enough. The installer was simple and the looks were different and beautiful.
Ubuntu software updates were fuss-free even for the regular user to understand. One of its most innovative technical aspects was its self upgrade feature. You didn’t need to download a separate ISO file, burn it to a disk and then install or update from it. All you had to do was upgrade from within the OS. The required files would automatically be downloaded and installed. Version changed! Slowly, many other innovations came in: a music store (just like Apple), a software center, integration of music players and social service into gnome shell and what not. It’s these little changes over time that increasingly increased the interest of new as well as already interested users.
The cherry on the topping was the awesome ‘no drivers required’ approach. Ubuntu made it easy for users to plug in their mobile phones, select their country, fill in a few details and get ready with a GPRS connection. This was, and still is, a huge boost for people (mostly students) who live in places where they can’t afford to have wired connections or costly wireless plans.
For some users, the last mentioned feature (built-in drivers) is most important. Although you won’t find Pentium 4 processors in the market anymore, some still use such machines just because it does all they want it to do. These users don’t upgrade either due to monetary problems or because they’re simply happy with the PC which taught them what a computer is. The bigger problem with owners of ‘boxes’ such as these is more on the side of support than features. If you lost the only copy of the driver CD of the motherboard for a P4 computer today, you will be forced to buy a new system.

The reason is lack of support from the manufacturer. In all probabilities, manufacturers would have stopped supporting the device. So you wouldn’t get the drivers on their web site, with little luck getting it elsewhere either. Since the Linux kernel has a huge database of drivers, Ubuntu gives you reason to rejoice. It brings life back to such old PCs. While system requirements of most other new operating systems for running are high, Ubuntu doesn’t need much to get great performance from older machines. While 512 MB RAM might seem a little less for Windows 7 or Windows Vista, Ubuntu can not only be used on such systems but can also perform pretty decently. In case that description suggests even in the slightest of ways that Ubuntu (or any other Linux distribution) is meant to run on slow devices, you might be enlightened to know that most supercomputers in the world today use Linux as their operating system. All these facts and features make Ubuntu more popular than any other Linux distribution.
